NYS COUNCIL ON DIVORCE MEDIATION HOSTS UPSTATE MINI-CONFERENCE AND WNY ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION MIXER

Buffalo, NY.  September 6th & 7th, 2013.  Buffalo Yacht Club.  The New York State Council on Divorce Mediation held a conference addressing topics affecting family mediation.  Nadia Shahram, local Williamsville mediation attorney and Board of Director of the NYS Council on Divorce Mediation along with Bridget O’Connell. Esq. hosted members from across New York State.

The conference presented speakers from a variety of disciplines in all areas of law and practice.  Paul D. Pearson, Esq. moderated a session on Best practices in working with other professionals, featuring Adrienne Rothstein Grace, CFP®, CDFA™ .  Adrienne also spoke on the panel: Collaborative Law and Mediation- Can we all just get along?  and Steven Sugarman, Esq. presented on : Bringing Creativity to the Table. Paul, Adrienne, Bridget  and Steven are all  from the Western New York Collaborative Law Professionals, Ltd.  Other topics included: same sex marriage and divorce, cultural competency with same sex couples and ethics updates.

The New York State Council on Divorce Mediation (NYSCDM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the highest professional standards of divorce mediation.  Among its services to the community, NYSCM works actively to promote family wellness by increasing public awareness of mediation as a preferred process for divorce.
